Presbyopia | Miranza - Clínica Muiños
What is the Surgical Technique?
The surgery to correct presbyopia is carried out in an out-patient mode and using topical anesthetic (eye drops). The intervention is not painful at all and the functional recovery is very quick, and might even last just a few hours.
Currently, the most advanced surgical technique for the correction of presbyopia is phacoemulsification. This is a minimally-invasive technique that dissolves, separates or breaks up that crystalline by using ultrasound. After the crystalline is broken, it is vacuumed with small surgical cuts.
After removing the crystalline, a diffractive multifocal intraocular lens of a biocompatible material is implanted, which allows the patient to see clearly both faraway and nearby objects.
Miranza clinics currently use this type of diffractive multifocal intraocular lenses as the most advanced option of new technologies for crystalline surgery.
