Oculoplasty | Miranza - Clínica Muiños
What is Blepharoplasty?
Of all micro-surgical techniques used in oculoplasty, blepharoplasty is the most frequent one, because it eliminates puffy bags under the lids.
The procedure entails extracting the fat, excess skin, and muscles from the upper and lower eyelids. The surgery can correct the separation of upper eyelids and bags of the lower part of eyes. These features can age a person and make him/her look more tired than they feel and can even interfere with their eyesight.
However, this procedure does not remove wrinkles or crow’s feet, and almost does not eliminate the dark circles under eyes. It does not lift eyebrows, but all these issues can be solved with other microsurgical procedures. What it can do is to help increase the crease of upper eyelids.
These interventions are carried out in operating rooms of Miranza Clínica Muiños with local anesthesia and under sedation, which means that one is awake but very relaxed and that no pain is felt.
The defects linked to oculoplasty can be delayed with a cosmetic treatment. However, puffy eyes, crow’s feet and changes to the position and shape of eyebrows require small surgical interventions to be corrected. Men and women want these with increasing frequency to look better and to solve:
Excessive skin in puffy bags.
Palpebral anomalies linked to the anophthalmic socket.
Changes to the anophthalmic socket.
Consequences of previous cosmetic surgery (palpebral retraction, dry-eye symptom).
Periocular wrinkles (crow’s feet).
Aesthetic problems of the periocular region.
